    CHINCHILLA DIET:

Their diet by the way is… (well atleast for mine…) Protein Pellets and regular pellets, hay cubes. Thats their regular diet but………. u can give them raisins when they’re good, but not more than one a day. Then they can have a lot more things i dont remember

So cute!!! I have a chinchilla Joey the second and he is HILARIOUS when he takes his baths! He is the cutest thing ever!!!!!!!!

not poisoned but it’s hard to dry the water off and the fur would more than likely get fungus in it – hard to treat, they’re not nocturnal but lively at twilight hours

it’s pretty good. but, you can’t leave it in the cage too long or your chin will chew the plastic which is toxic for them.

does the atacoma desert ring a bell its up in the mountains. not a tropical desert, the animal is from peru, why do you think they bath in vucanec dust?

  13. pyromaniac2549 says:

they are definately not desert animals they over heat at above 80 degrese nothing can ever be “poisoned” by water and you can pick them up normally like a cat the nocturnal thing u got right also they cant sweat

OO a dust bunny :> thats what I call the chinchillas for obvious reasons in this video and they are softer then rabbits.

I actually heard that they are desert animals from peru if they get too much water on them they will be poisoned and die, someone in a pet shop once told me. Chinchillas are also nocternal animals so they are more active at night, and you have to pick them up by the base of the tail because their ribcage cant take tones of pressure. They are cute and soft non the less.

yeah you are right. But to tell the truth, i am in love with animals. I have had 3 hamsters in the past. the first 2 prlly didnt get as much love becuz i was younger. But i loved my 3rd one. sadly he died. but i took the responsibility for him, and i prlly could for a chinchilla. The only thing i am worried about is if the, smell bad, and make lots of noises like guinea pigs.

you are right, chins aren’t recommended for small kids because they are lots of work. also remember that chins can live 15+ years, so it’s a long term commitment. i got Sushi from a breeder who adopted him from a girl who was going to college and couldn’t take care of him anymore. it’s sad and stressful for an animal to be abandoned like that, and your parents probably don’t want to be stuck taking care of your pet. chins require stable environments, constant care, and lots of attention.

  18. rockstarr1196 says:

omg thankyou so much. I just want to say i am 12 and pretty much in love with animals, but my parents really think it is a bad idea. I know they aren’t recommended for 10 and under, but what are their attitudes like??

  19. poopieray says:

i would see if there’s a small breeder near you first. reason: breeders have time to handle and love each chinchilla baby and teach them to respond to humans. they tend to be more friendly and well behaved. also, look into chinchilla rescue too. i don’t support pet stores (in general) because of the issue of animal farms. just do an internet search for small breeders/ rescues. alot of people who handmake chin toys run rescues too. good luck.

    Thankyou!

hey guys i dont know were 2 buy one from a pet store. i live in louisville,,and realyy only want 1 from a store

  22. AZNPKER123 says:

well no of course they shake it off… Example: your dog shakes off water. However chinchillas have long ears, Look at how they spin for instance. Never getting dust in their ears.

  23. FR00b2u says:

but couldnt the dust go in their ears

  24. poopieray says:

yes, chinchillas must take dust baths. their fur count is so dense (60 hairs per follicle) that if you give them water baths they will mold. dust baths is the only way to clean the oil from their fur. there are good chin owner guides online, just search for them.

Does a chinchilla HAVE to take dust baths or no? cause i am getting one and i need to know this stuff :D
