Help! My Dog’s Breath Smells Like Butt!

My precious doggie’s breath is just HORRIBLE! I don’t know what to do about it. I have given him green treats to clean his teeth, brushed his teeth, put all natural Tom’s Mouthwash on his gums, and his tongue ( Whoooooaaa, he really didn’t like that- started to gnaw on everything he could find.).. and NOTHING seems to help. He is the best dog, but I can smell him coming before I see him! Please! Recommend any successful solutions for dog halitosis that you have come across. Both the dog and myself would appreciate it.

    @WONDAWOMAN GARLIC<<

Hi wonda. Well garlic can kill bad bacteria and helps stop worms; butt it can eventually get rancid after time so that’s not good. Better is cinnamon. It is healthy and I sometimes 1 x/ week combin a very small amount of cinnamon, curry and cumin. I wipe a small amount on the tongue or roof of the mouth. Also these spices aid circulation. %^)

@EGMAG Thank you so much.. but wouldn’t the garlic just make the stink STRONGER? lol.

@KCobain2021 Thank you for replying and watching.. I had a neighbor whose dog’s breath is so bad that its hard to sit in the car with her the dog. She can’t get her teeth cleaned because the dog has a heart condition.. It smells like ROT.. poor dog.

  4. EGMAG says:

try squeezing liquid garlic capsules as it cleanses the dog mouth and is good for its health

this is sooo funny(: but I can relate. My friends dog makes me want to leave her house. lol

Yesss, he only has one tooth, & they don’t want to operate on it because he has a heart murmur too, (he’s a rescue dog, with a slew of probs) so I have him on anti-biotics, than they’ll see if the heart murmur is actually being caused by this nasty tooth. Hopefully it clears up. Than we can get the tooth yanked. It seems to be in there pretty good, but the underneath is completely lifted, bacteria is a growin…Hope you get your beloved fixed too! <3

@Ceraphinas Yep, I was reading something and it was saying that a dog’s breath naturally smells good.. and that if it is a very foul smell.. that there is likely a dental problem…looks like we are going to have to go to the doggy tooth fairy. Dental cleaning…and we are supposed to brush their teeth every day. With a doggie toothbrush and paste of course. Thank you for watching !

  8. Ceraphinas says:

I’m having this problem right now too, but I suspect mine (his) problem is from the tooth abscess & all of the bad bacteria…it is rank.

@theonlyed Because oatmeal is a natural breath deodorizer that kills halitosis….Notice your breath after eating a bowl of oatmeal….Probably has something to do with amount of calcium-D-gluconate that naturally occurs in oatmeal cooked or raw…PEACE!!

  10. theonlyed says:

why does it HAVE to be oatmeal?

  11. WONDAWOMAN says:

Thank you. I haven’t caught him being able to get his head near his butt.. the culed end of the tail is as far as its gone.. but I know that butt gland smell.. LOL. Thankfully, it doesn’t smell like that. But we will have to take a trip to a holistic vet & I have plenty of flaxseed..so I will try it.
    THANKS A BUNCH.

  12. mybarbiedali says:

You probably need to empty his anal glands that are impacted… It happens to almost all dogs.. Your dog licks his butt and his breath will stink like anal fluid.. The Fluid gets trapped and builds up in there and is so foul smelling!!!! Your Vet or groomer can do this… You can also do it yourself but I don’t suggest it. To help prevent this add flax to your dogs diet. It super gross!!!!

unfortunately, you might just have to learn to live with his bad breath….

  14. xcorlett says:

Take him to a groomer and have them scrub his teeth like a dentist!

At this point, I have given him carrots, bought dog toothpaste & toothbrushes, breath mints ( the slow release kind.. so slow they have YET to work ), teeth cleaning biscuits, hand fulls of parsley, mints, mouthwash (Tom’s and he DIDN’T like it), bones…ughhh…Its like his gut is in his throat. I don’t know how he would fare if it weren’t for his looks! Bwaaaahaaaa!

Did you use the dog toothpaste in either mint or a meat flavor? You let the lick it first then put it on a doggie toothbrush.

Hahahahaaaa!!!!! HILARIOUS!!! U r HILARIOUS!!! But I know what u mean. I have the same problem with my chihuahua, and he won’t let me brush his teeth. I’m at a lost myself.. I’m still LMBO!!!!

  17. zyruemusic says:

A bowl of cooked oatmeal added to his diet should do the trick….bad breath starts in the stomach….PEACE!!!

  18. WONDAWOMAN says:

Ya know DB, I brushed his teeth as much as he’d let me & it was still awful..then I put mouthwash on my finger & rubbed it on his gums & his tongue.. He started rubbing his face vigorously in his bed & chewing on the rug ( didn’t like it huh> LOL) Then I bought him a beef bone to chew on ( still rank & stanky) Sooo, now we are trying carrots. My cousin recommend them. Huge bag…Heavens to mercatroids.. I sniffed it just now.. his breath is getting better! ROTFL! i EVEN MADE TREATS W/ PARSLEY!

  19. deborahbetty58 says:

LOL, I think you can get these special kind of chewy thingies for dogs in a pet-shop, that will clean the teeth and refresh their breath. Or else maybe you can brush his teeth. Some dogs allow that, but don’t try it on cats lol.

  20. WONDAWOMAN says:

Thank you so much.. I will search for those things.. funny thing is as I am watching this and replying, he hears the barking in the video and is in his bed gruff ruffing! lol.. I am definitely going to change his food.. he seems not to like it much anyway.

  21. WONDAWOMAN says:

    Thank you so much~

ROTFL!! The title of this vid and the tags…I’m LOL over here. Poor doggy. Sounds like you need to change his diet. It’s definitely something internal that’s causing his breath to smell. You can take the same holistic approach w/ your pets that you would for yourself. It doesn’t HAVE to be made for a dog. Of course it depends on the issue. Just Google remedies as if you’re treating yourself. Find mercola on YT. They have vids focusing on pet health. LOL. Bless.~

Best go to a homoeopathic veterinary doctor, WONDAWOMAN. Smell from the mouth can be caused by several things, like Ketosis, throat disease, kidney disease, neoplastic condition, digestive disorder, mouth disease, etc.
